Redes, sociedade e pólis: recortes epistemológicos na midiatização

Ada C. Machado da Silveira 178 Abstract: The text presents reflections on the process of me - diatization and its implications for the newsworthiness of the Brazilian periphery. The study of the newsworthiness of pe - ripheral spaces, notably the international frontier when taken beyond the geopolitical aspect or the primacy of the State, al- lows to bring elements that aid in the understanding of the sin - gularity and the interactions therein that are definitely affected by globalization. It tries to highlight the multiple interests and implications for the mediatization of the polis and newsworthi - ness of the periphery when studying the so-called Transfrontier Urban Complex (CUT), constituted by three distinct cities con - gregated in the same urban fabric, although belonging to three different nation states, namely Brazil, Paraguay and Argentine. The escalation of media increment observable by the pattern of events constructed as frontier events enshrines the progression of the logic of institutionalized media. It also raises questions about the mediatisation of the polis and newsworthiness of the periphery in terms of its militarization. Keywords: Mediatization. Newsworthiness. Periphery. I - Introdução O texto apresenta reflexões sobre o processo de midia- tização e suas implicações para a noticiabilidade da periferia brasileira. O estudo da noticiabilidade de espaços periféricos, notadamente a fronteira internacional quando tomada além do aspecto geopolítico ou da primazia do Estado, permite tra- zer elementos que auxiliem na compreensão da singularidade e das interações ali existentes francamente afetadas pela globa - lização. Intenta-se colocar em relevo os múltiplos interesses e implicações para a midiatização da pólis e noticiabilidade da pe- riferia quando se estudam os denominados Complexos Urbanos Transfronteiriços (CUT). Na situação em apreço, decorrente de projeto de pesquisa, considero o CUT constituído pela conurba- cão de três cidades distintas congregadas em um mesmo tecido urbano, embora integrantes de três Estados nacionais diferen- tes, a saber, Brasil, Paraguai e Argentina.
